Day 2 - Saturday
Today was a busy day, but good. We unpacked all the supplies, stocked the rooms, and prepared to open clinic at 7:00 am. I saw 3 patients today that came in for surgery consults. One lady had an ovarian cyst just over an inch in diameter that had grown and has been causing her pain, she will be having it surgically removed in the morning. An OB patient, 35 weeks, wanted to be induced but she was not term and the baby is healthy. I scanned a lady late this afternoon for rt upper gastric pain, and noticed she had the scars that would indicate her gallbladder had been removed. She did not mention this to the doctor. I scan her RUQ and note a normal CBD and what I thought to be a GB with thickened walls, sludge and "stones" that showed border shadowing. I looked for surgical clips in the GB fossa and none were seen...but there was a large amount of bowel obstruction and patient was not NPO. Dr. Twadell, the surgeon came to me and said, "this woman is claiming her GB was removed, and has the scars to show it." After we together looked, he agreed that there was no observation of surgical clips (but they don't always use them I'm told) and what I showed him I thought to be the GB - he agreed and said it is questionable. She is coming back in the morning NPO and then I will know for sure. Boy will I feel dumb if she doesn't. Francine and I shared a God moment and may have even more blessings for me than I realize. I'll tell you about that later. I love laughing with these people and god is definitely do a work in me. I like everyone but my favorites, right now are Francine, Lisa, Cathy, Dorcy, and Kayla. Oh, and Susanne is really nice. I should have my work cut out for me tomorrow- 12 day at clinic and they keep saying ill be super busy!
